Background for watercolor artwork

Adding background for an artwork is significant because it will make an art as a masterpiece or a flop.

It is always said by experienced artists that leaving a blank background is also a background. Also, the colour used in the background must be picked from the main subject of the picture.

Here, in this flower watercolor painting,  the flower has lighter tonal value. So a stronger tonal background is added so that the petals could stand out clearly as the focal point.
